Future Directions

In 2008 the Human Rights Forum will continue to undertake a program of activities including bringing a high-profile overseas guest speaker to the University, and the ongoing lunchtime lecture series. In addition to this calendar of events, the Forum will also seek to establish more formal links between those undertaking human rights research at the University. In accordance with this, the Forum will:

  • Establish an annual program of research colloquia to promote cross-faculty dialogue between academic researchers, and between Research Higher Degree students;
  • Foster cross-disciplinary reading groups; and
  • Consolidate partnerships with community groups/government departments/international NGOs, with a view to developing a better understanding of ‘knowledge transfer’ and its possibilities.
